Sustained Monomorphic Ventricular Tachycardia vs AV Nodal Reentrant Tachycardia (Slow-Fast): clinical and ECG differences
Side-by-side comparison of Sustained Monomorphic Ventricular Tachycardia and AV Nodal Reentrant Tachycardia (Slow-Fast) according to the MioAtlas 3D cardiac simulator model.
Findings by layer and diagnostic parameters
| Layer / Finding | Sustained Monomorphic Ventricular Tachycardia | AV Nodal Reentrant Tachycardia (Slow-Fast) |
|---|---|---|
| Clinical summary |
≥ 3 consecutive ventricular complexes at a rate > 100 bpm with uniform QRS morphology. Usually caused by reentry around myocardial scar (post-infarction). Hallmarks include AV dissociation (independent P waves, fusion beats, capture beats) and extreme axis deviation. |
The most common paroxysmal supraventricular tachycardia in adults with normal hearts. A functional circuit within the AV node utilizes an anterograde slow pathway and retrograde fast pathway. Retrograde P waves are buried inside or immediately after the QRS, mimicking a pseudo-r' in V1 or pseudo-S in inferior leads. |
